Review: RAGTIME Rides on the Wheels of a Dream at The Ruth
Salt Lake City: Tyler Hinton on January 06, 2025

RAGTIME rides on the wheels of a dream of founders, artists, and donors as it opens the brand-new home of the former Hale Center Theater Orem. The magnificent musical is the inaugural production in the Smith Grand Theater at the beautifully designed, spacious yet intimate Ruth and Nathan Hale Theater (The Ruth) on the dōTERRA campus in Pleasant Grove.

Review: AIDA and the Temple of Doom Comes to the Met with Angel Blue
Opera: Richard Sasanow on January 06, 2025

Someone at the Met should have been giving out flu shots (before RFK Junior makes them illegal), because something is obviously going around the cast of the new AIDA. They should have handed out a scorecard to help the audience keep track of who-was-who.

Review: AND THEN THERE WERE NONE at Everyman Theatre
Baltimore: Tina Collins on January 06, 2025

The Everyman Theatre in Baltimore has brought Agatha Christie’s And Then There Were None to life in a gripping production with clever staging and engaging performances. Directed by Noah Himmelstein, the play stays true to Christie’s masterful storytelling, blending suspense with moments of humor and intrigue.

Review: PAGANS ON BOBSLEDS XXXI: RIZZ THE SEASON at The Public Theater
Arkansas: Theresa Bertram on January 06, 2025

What did our critic think of PAGANS ON BOBSLEDS XXXI: RIZZ THE SEASON at The Public Theater?

Review: BILL BAILEY: THOUGHTIFIER, Theatre Royal Haymarket
UK / West End: Aliya Al-Hassan on January 06, 2025

A comedian, a musician, a nature-lover, a philosopher. Bill Bailey has now surely also cemented his status as national treasure. His latest show, Thoughtifier, is about his intriguing thought processes, channelled through music. So nothing new there then. However, Bailey ensures that a show that runs over two hours never flags, maintaining characteristic charm and curiosity throughout.

Review: ROB COPLAND: GIMME (ONE WITH EVERYTHING), Soho Theatre
UK / West End: Kat Mokrynski on January 06, 2025

Rob Copland: Gimme (One With Everything) begins with quite the introduction, with Copland not actually beginning the storytelling of the show for several minutes. Before the show, I had seen Copland doing some warmup stretches, which quickly made sense once he ran onto the stage, jumping around and pulling audience members up to dance with him.

Review: A CHRISTMAS CAROL at Morrilton High School
Arkansas: Theresa Bertram on January 05, 2025

For the non-theatrical people, you would be surprised at how many A CHRISTMAS CAROLs there are, and the students at Morrilton High School and their teachers presented their own version. Read the review here!

Review: SHREK THE MUSICAL at Maxim Teatern
Sweden: Annette Stolt on January 05, 2025

Great family musical. Entertaining and fun. Great musical artists.

Review: LA HAINE at La Seine Musicale
France: Patrick Honoré on January 04, 2025

An incandescent adaptation of the cult French movie. Not just an adaptation, 'La Haine' is a reinvention: an immersive blend of theater, music, dance, cinema, and new media.

Review: Outerbridge Magic's MYSTERIES OF THE KEYHOLE HOUSE at Ottawa Little Theatre
Ottawa: Courtney Castelino on January 03, 2025

Isn't Ottawa magical at this time of year with all the glistening snow, twinkle lights, and vanishing acts? Yes, you heard that right. Ted and Marion Outerbridge, the duo behind Outerbridge Magic, are getting Ottawa's new year off to a magical start with their Mysteries of the Keyhole House at Ottawa Little Theatre.

Review: David Marino's show at Birdland Was Passion Plus Pow
Cabaret: Rob Lester on January 03, 2025

A crooner with charisma, a vocalist with versatility, an old soul with new energy: that’s dynamic and delightful David Marino. His powerful voice radiates star power. He returned to Birdland for another sold-out standout concert to close out 2024.

Review: FASCINATING AIDA, Royal Festival Hall
UK / West End: Franco Milazzo on January 03, 2025

And so yet another Fascinating Aïda tour comes to a close. Having already dipped into their latest extended jaunt around the UK a couple of times already, one thing has become abundantly clear: the second best thing about going to see this celebrated cabaret outfit has been experiencing the reactions of those around the room. Whether it’s a furiously fast number about dogging, a song about plastic surgery sung through barely-open lips or a gentle refrain about encouraging your aging mother to take a one-way trip to Switzerland, the responses are as enjoyable as anything coming off the stage.

Food + Wine: Marina Kennedy on January 02, 2025

The Mediterranean inspired restaurant, Marsanne made its debut in the Chelsea neighborhood this past May and guests have made it one of their favorite destinations.

Review: THE CIVIL TWILIGHT at Broadwater Studio Theatre
Los Angeles: Evan Henerson on January 02, 2025

This deceptively dark world premiere, co-produced by People with Plays Productions and the Road Theatre Company at the Broadwater Studio Theatre, is not one for those looking to 2025 with visions of sunny skies ahead.

Review: THE NUTCRACKER, Royal Albert Hall
UK / West End: Franco Milazzo on January 02, 2025

When I first saw The Nutcracker, I was convinced one of these things must be true: either someone had spiked my drink, the cast were all on drugs or we were all in some kind of baffling nightmare. No other explanation seemed plausible to my young mind.
