ABC has given a 13-episode straight-to-series order to a new crime drama starring Poppy Montgomery, produced by ABC Studios and ABC Studios International in partnership with M6. Montgomery will also executive produce the series, which is based on her idea, along with Ken Sanzel, who will write the series as well as serve as showrunner.

J.B.J Film and Elevated Films announced today that acclaimed actor Ben Foster has been cast as the lead in director Petr Jakl's historical action drama MEDIEVAL. Jakl wrote the screenplay and will produce alongside Cassian Elwes. The film will be produced with the support of private investors and many Czech state institutions and regions, including the Czech Film Fund, the Prague Film Fund, Creative Europe - Media and others. Principal photography is scheduled to begin this fall in Prague and the surrounding Czech countryside.

Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott  are retuning to AMERICAN HORROR STORY in the upcoming season, Apocalypse, according to Variety. Britton and McDermott appeared in the first season of the series.

Amy Schumer Presents Sam Morril: Positive Influence makes its world premiere with limited commercial interruption on Friday, September 14 at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT on Comedy Central and an encore will air on Sunday, September 16 at 11:30 p.m. ET/PT. HBO Documentary Films has acquired worldwide TV and streaming rights to Participant Media and Emerson Collective's documentary feature film FOSTER. Producer Deborah Oppenheimer and writer-director Mark Jonathan Harris (HBO's Oscar®-winning “Into the Arms of Strangers: Stories of the Kindertransport”) reunite to upend some of the most enduring myths about foster care, going beyond the sensational headlines and stereotypes. The Sabine Films production, which recently had its world premiere at AFI DOCS Film Festival in Washington, D.C., will debut on HBO in 2019.

Hugh Laurie as been cast as the lead in an HBO comedy pilot from Armando Iannucci, according to Variety.

Jon Hamm, Ed Harris and Lewis Pullman have been cast in Paramount Pictures' TOP GUN: MAVERICK, according to Variety. They will be joining Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, and Monica Barbaro, who was just cast as the first female pilot and Teller's love interest in the film. 

Barry Jenkins' feature film adaptation of James Baldwin's 1974 novel 'If Beale Street Could Talk' will have its US premiere at Harlem's Apollo Theater as part of the 56th New York Film Festival, presented by the Film Society of Lincoln Center. This marks the first time that the festival will present a screening at the historic theater.

E! has greenlit a second season of breakout hit 'Very Cavallari' starring celebrity entrepreneur Kristin Cavallari. The second season of the docu-series, set to premiere in 2019, will continue to follow the reality superstar's life in Nashville and will feature 10 one-hour episodes. The first season of 'Very Cavallari' has seen consistent week on week growth in all key demos and currently ranks as one of the youngest and most affluent series on ad-supported cable and broadcast with a median age of 36. 'Very Cavallari' is produced by T Group Productions with Jenny Daly, Rob Lobl, and Kristin Cavallari serving as Executive Producers.

On Friday, October 5, Amazon Prime Video will premiere season three of the Emmy Award-winning Prime Original series The Man in the High Castle. Prime Video has released the official trailer for the new season, which features up and coming Berlin-based artist Lxandra's reimagining of U2's hit song 'Pride (In the Name of Love).' This is the first time that U2 has allowed 'Pride (In the Name of Love)' to be covered and used commercially. Lxandra's cover will be available for purchase on Amazon Prime Music and other digital music services.
