FAENA, written and directed by Dylan Hankins, offers a provocative exploration of the grotesque world of bullfighting, blending themes of biology, politics, and anthropology. Set in a tragicomic landscape, it follows Víctor, a prideful matador whose machismo leads to his tragic demise, much to the distress of his worried mother, Carmen. Presented in Castilian Spanish with live English interpretation, the performance features a talented cast including Paulina Jaeger-Rosete, Kasia Caravello, Rocco Weyer, Gabe Reyes, Sofia Marks, and Hankins himself. This piece serves as an homage to the esperpento genre, using exaggeration to unveil deeper truths within its narrative.
