ALL THE RIZZ OF A CLASSIC, BUT IN 30 MINUTES OR LESS Join Hedgepig Ensemble Theatre for three staged readings and one full performance of short plays written by women and gender expansive writers. A one night only performance on Monday, November 18 at 7pm at Mitu Theater in Brooklyn ( 580 Sackett St Unit A - Ground Fll). The staged readings will feature Maria Irene Fornes' TANGO PALACE!, Sylvia Plath's THREE WOMEN, Wu Zao's DRINKING WINE AND READING AND ENCOUNTERING SORROW (translated by Solphie Volpp) and a full performance of Alice Gerstenberg's SEAWEED. Directors for these plays include Skye Pagon, Emily Lyon, Kalina Ko, and Triza Cox. Adelphi University's Theatre Department will be the featured guest performers for SEAWEED. Tayla Madison (Linda Luchini) is a performer from Providence, Rhode Island, and is currently pursuing her BFA in Acting from Adelphi University. Tayla has performed and produced at cabaret venues in the city such as 54 Below and Don’t Tell Mama. She also originated the role of Cell in a new work, ‘Lost Time,’ at Adelphi University. Katrina Pedri (she/her) (Pansy Richheimer) is a sophomore Political Science major and Theatre: Arts Acting minor from Queens, New York. Tonight’s production, Seaweed, marks her debut at Mitu Theatre. Her previous productions include Adelphi University’s Seaweed and Francis Lewis High School's Puffs. In addition to her involvement in theater at Adelphi University, she currently serves as Parliamentarian for the Student Government Association and as the Director of Public Relations for the Adelphi Undergraduate Law Review. Gagarin (They/Them) is a theatre maker currently based in Brooklyn. With a practice grounded in physical and devised world, Gagarin works to develop and bastardize our classical monoliths. They currently serve as a Curator with Expand the Canon where they establish gender equity in the classical canon. Previous collaborations and works include; Hedgepig Ensemble Theatre, The New Georges, PhysFest, SITI Company and Blessed Unrest. They also run a low cost movement collective for artists and all others to practice physical theatre disciplines as a way of establishing a positive connection to their bodies. Actor in DRINKING WINE AND READING "ENCOUNTERING SORROW"
Dorothea is an artist from Manila, Philippines. She is currently a teaching artist in several New York city schools as well as a resident artist for Spellbound Theatre and Hedgepig Ensemble Theatre. She has performed for La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, Rattlestick Playwrights, The Flea Theater, and many more. She has performed in various theater companies back home as well such as Repertory Philippines, PETA (Philippine Educational Theater Association), and CCP (Cultural Center of the Philippines) to name a few. She also earned BroadwayWorld’s Best Featured Actress for her performance with Repertory Philippines. She is often seen in Bryant Park where she practices her juggling and flow arts. Guillermo Contreras is a Mexican-American actor and writer, originally from Waukesha, WI.
Most recently Guillermo performed as Mercutio in Atomi Theatre Collective's production of Romeo and Juliet.
Other projects include: Where Are You? (Mabou Mines SUITE/Space Residency), BUST (Soho Rep Writer/Director’s Lab), Indeed, Friend! (Clubbed Thumb/Playwrights Downtown), and Prototypes (The Downstairs at La Mama). TV/FILM: Creep Box, Manifest (Netflix, S4), FBI: Most Wanted (CBS, S3). Guillermo also voices the character Gustavo in Rockstar Games’ Grand Theft Auto 5: The Cayo Perico Heist.

Shannon Summers (she/her) (Myra Swanson) is a sophomore at Adelphi theatre arts: acting major from National Park, New Jersey. Besides her first-year showcase, this is her first Adelphi production for the main season. She recently worked in MT such as 54 Below (Feminine Rage parts one and two), Mamma Mia (Sophie), Legally Blonde (Elle Woods), and Aida (Amneris). Jen Anaya is a queer Indigenous Mexican theater/music/art/ritual space-maker, doula, teacher, energy healer and baby whisperer raised on Yavapaiv Apache, Cocopah and O'odham land. From La Mama to Harvard Art Lab and Trinity Rep, Radio City Music Hall to The Kitchen and La Jolla Playhouse, across LenapeHoking, Turtle Island and the world, Jen has been weaving music, theater, art, movement and healing together everywhere they go. They’ve performed in everything from plays, web series, musicals, experimental music pieces and operas to public healing rituals and fandangos. They're a founding member of Constellation Chor, are a You Are Here Creations collaborator, a 2021 FORGE Fellow and a Reiki and 13th Octave La Ho Chi practitioner. When not on contract, they tend to their healing arts practice, De Luz Healing, play with their bands and have a blast with the young folks at 52nd St. Project. Triza Cox is a theatre artist who is the current Director of Outreach and Engagement for Hedgepig Ensemble Theatre and Artistic Director of The Drama Lady Theatre Group. She has served as the Associate Artistic Director for Theatre for Change with Imagination Stage. Triza holds a Master of Fine Arts in Theatre Performance from the University of Louisville and has worked for over a decade as an arts educator as well as a playwright, director, producer and actor. She is currently a National Leaders of Color Fellow in Arts Administration. She is also South Carolina Ambassador for the Dramatists Guild. Recent awards include the FY22 South Carolina Arts Commission Fellowship for screenwriting. Her research and creative work center on playmaking using Jungian archetypes, motifs, and symbols of the collective unconscious. Triza has trained with Dell’Arte International School of Physical Theatre and as a Theatre of the Oppressed Facilitator and in Rainbow of Desire with the Mandala Center for Change. She has directed Macbeth and Julius Caesar for educational tours to Title I schools in the rural South as well as other classical and contemporary productions. Other directing credits include Miss Julie, For Colored Girls Who Have Considered Suicide When the Rainbow is Enuf, 10 Seconds, The Stone Host , Seaweed, Suppressed Desires, and several staged readings for New Circle Theatre in Manhattan. Kalina Ko (she/her) is a Cantonese-American theater director, dramaturg, and literary administrator interested in the radical connection and community building of storytelling. She is currently a Co-Coordinator for the Ma-Yi Writer's Lab, Literary Manager at Atlantic Theater Company, and a Curator for Hedgepig’s Expand the Canon. Past experience includes directing Lizzie Hagstedt’s Sophie Blanchard’s Rock N’ Roll Extravaganza (Moxie Arts), Laura Neill's Pink Unicorn Frappuccinos (Chain Theatre), Nina Ki's Rescues (Clubbed Thumb Emerging Writers Group), Paige Conway’s Tag (drafted), and Sophie Poole’s Ethanol (NOMADS). She has served as associate director for Yoko’s Husband’s Killer’s Japanese Wife Gloria (NAMT, dir. Jess McLeod), assistant director for T. Adamson’s The Straights (The JACK, Brooklyn, dir. Will Detlefsen), and script assistant for Hansol Jung on Wolf Play (Soho Rep). Her dramaturgy experience includes Shirley Chen’s Chinatown, My Chinatown (Ma-Yi Theatre Company), Samantha Toy Ozeas’ One Day Down, and Victoria Kneubuhl’s Ola Na Iwi (Roundabout Theatre Company). Skye Pagon

Skye Pagon (she/her) is a Brooklyn-based producer, director, performer, and arts administrator. She received her BFA in Drama from New York University, where she first fell in love with classical theater and telling epically theatrical stories in curious and intimate spaces. As a director, she has worked at NYU and with Hedgepig Ensemble on both classic and devised pieces, specializing in new adaptations and workshops. She is a resident producer for the actor-lead company, Atomi Theatre Collective, and has produced shows and events at Lincoln Center, the Tada! Youth Theater, and with Hedgepig Ensemble. She served as a founding Curator for Hedgepig's Expand the Canon and is a current member of the WP Theatre Lab (2024-26). She works on the Programming team at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.
Emily Lyon
Director: THREE WOMEN
Emily is a director, dramaturg, and writer working at the intersection of storytelling and social change. She curates Expand the Canon, leads Future Facing Films, works on the Hollywood Climate Summit, and created an environmental justice card game with The Civilians R&D Group. Over her 9 years with Hedgepig, Emily co-created the Expand the Canon project, and directed 8 shows, including All’s Well That Ends Well, Mary Stuart, A Taste of Shakespeare, and Secret in the Wings. As a freelance director, Lyon has directed 8 world premiere plays, and worked with Hudson Valley Shakespeare Festival, Geva Theatre, The Old Globe, LaMaMa, Yale Rep, The Royal Shakespeare Company, The Folger, and others. As a freelance dramaturg, she’s worked with writers on shaping 25+ new plays, as well as editing classical texts, including The Tempest for Shakespeare in the Park. Sean Sullivan (costume designer) is an associate professor in the Department of Theatre’s design technology and management program. Adelphi University costumes design credits include Sense and Sensibility, Comic Potential, The Hollow, Picnic, Boys Next Door, These Shining Lives, Madwoman of Chaillot and Steel Magnolias. Sean has freelance designed costumes for regional summer stock productions and in New York City. New York credits highlights include The Great Society, Long Day’s Journey Into Night with Yorkshire Shakespeare Company, Candida and Intrigue and Love at Jean Cocteau Repertory.
Olivia Reid
Sound Designer (SEAWEED)
Olivia Reid (Sound Designer) is a senior Communications major at Adelphi University concentrating in digital media and cinema studies with a minor in theater design and technology. They are a multi-hyphenate creative based in Queens, New York and split their time between theater and film. In their time at Adelphi they have worked on Unboxing (Sound Board Operator), The Moors (Audio Technician), Lost Time (Electrician), and, most recently, Love and Information (Sound Board Operator). In addition, she has worked on various short films including Take Two: Reclaiming Queer Adolescence (Director), Back the Students, Not the Second (Editor), and Gemini (Writer/Director). They love storytelling in all its forms, from page to stage to screen, and take every opportunity to share that passion in all of their work. Nikki Colaitis (She/Her) is a Senior Acting Major and Theater Design/Technology Minor with a concentration in Lighting and Stage Management. Her previous notable tech credits at Adelphi University include: Production Assistant for Trojan Women, Master Electrician for Melancholy Play and A Taste of Shakespeare, Assistant Stage Manager for UNBOXING, and the Master Electrician & Assistant Lighting Designer for The Moors. She has worked towards light design ever since she got into electrics and is so proud this piece as well as its partner in crime are her first official light designs. Nikki had the most hardworking yet very rewarding time working on these two one-acts and would love to thank Kevin Stemple, Oliver Littleton, David Shocket, and Mark Quiles, as this design quite literally wouldn’t have come to life without their guidance and support. Since graduating with his BA in Technical Theatre from King’s college in 2011, Kevin has worked in theatrical lighting as well as corporate theatre. Initially working for ArtsQuest in PA. He traveled with Carnival Crusie Lines while working as the Lighting Thecnician for three different ships. He then started in corporate events including awards shows, PGA and other branded press events and trade shows. Most recently, he has worked for Theatre 3 and The Staller Center as a Light Board Programmer. Some Notable acts include Alan Cumming, Wayne Brady, Kevin James, and The Impractical Jokers.

Vishal Ramnarine(He/Him)Vishal started his journey in theater in his first year of high school at Berkeley Carroll with being prop master for CLUE. He even acted in shows like PIPPIN and LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL. He was the Production assistant for LOST TIME. Vishal has even ventured to Off-Broadway with being costume setter and assistant stage manager for RENT (2022). This will be one of his first ventures into being prop master for professional theater, so we hope you enjoy this world he helped to create.
