This production will utilize a revised script by Arthur Laurents and later revised by David Saint for the tour.

Rehearsals begin September 24, 2012; First performance is October 29, 2012

Contracted through July 2013

All positions are paid. Rehearsal salary - $300/week. Performance salary minimum - $455/week + Per diem, Housing, and Health Insurance.

OPEN CALL FOR MALE DANCERS AND FEMALE DANCERS INTERESTED IN THE ROLE OF ANYBODYS

Seeking excellent, young, athletic dancers who sing to portray the following roles (all should believably be able to play teenagers):

Riff: (18 & up to play late teens – late 20s) All-American look, strong, a young man of principle. Strong bari-tenor and strong dancer.

Bernardo: (early 20’s – early 30’s) Latin, masculine; a very angry young man. Must be a strong dancer and actor. Singing is a plus. Must be comfortable speaking Spanish.

The Jet Boys: (18 & up to play late teens – 20s) All-American male dancers with excellent ballet/jazz technique who sing. Action, A-Rab, Baby John, Snowboy, Big Deal, Diesel.

The Shark Boys: (18 & up to play late teens – early 20s) Seeking Puerto-Rican types for NYC gang. All ethnicities strongly encouraged. Must be excellent dancers with strong ballet/jazz technique (singing a plus). Chino, Pepe, Indio, Inca, Tio, Bolo, Federico. Must be comfortable speaking Spanish.

Anybodys: Young girl (18 & up to play teens – early 20s); tomboy who wants to be part of the Jets gang; strong dancer and singer. Must be able to sing to an F#. Sings the song “Somewhere”.

Please come prepared to dance with jazz shoes or sneakers, ballet shoes, and knee pads. Please prepare 16 bars of a musical theatre song from the show or in the style of the show in case you are asked to stay and sing. Bring sheet music in appropriate key. Bring your book of music in case you are asked to sing another selection. ALL actors must bring a headshot and resume stapled together.
