SYNOPSIS
Jen and Penny meet their match after they enroll at a prestigious all-girls music conservatory precariously located next to an all-boys jazz academy. Under the tutelage of the fabulous Amanda, the three girls plan to unite the schools through music under the nose of the reigning queen of discipline, their previous headmistress.
No roles have been pre-cast.
Breakdown:
ST-CLAIR: Female, 40-50, The Headmistress of the girl’s school. Her dignity and law-abiding nature get in the way of running the school as she would like, though her mother’s constant interjections surely don’t help. A large intimidating woman, she’s secretly looking for someone to see her soft-side.
AMANDA: Female, 18, St-Clair’s prized pupil. She’s confident, collected, and practically capable of being in two places at once. Light on her feet and quick as a whip, Amanda runs mostly as a lone agent.
JEN: Female, 17, The resident academic. Too smart for her own good Jen has been known to walk into walls while reading a book. She has wild aspirations and just barrels through the work she creates for herself. Joining up with Amanda might be a bit out of her scope, but she can’t deny it’s a heck of a lot more fun that calculus.
PENNY: Female, 17, Jen’s overly imaginative confidant. Her mental flexibility is almost matched by her dancing skills, Penny’s wild ideas are often blind-sided by reality, though she probably won’t even notice.
PRINCIPAL BRADLEY: Male, 30-40s, The principal of the all-boys school. A popular teacher having just made his way into the principal’s shoes. Bradley is a dreamer who just needs a little reminder why he set out on his path. His good looks are known to render the weak speechless.
ADAM: Male, 17, The head of the Boarhurst Mathletes. The skinny intellect and mascot for the football team Adam lives for the rigidity of a good set of a directions. He’s Chris’ pal and takes care of his friend.
CHRIS: Male, 17, The captain of the football team. Chris, a man of few words is actually not bad on his feet, making him the perfect companion for the fast-footed Penny.
JORDAN: Male, 18, The local delivery boy, known for his constant inconsistence.
LIESL: Male/Female, speaking role, The domineering ex-headmistress of WAG, Liesl tries to pull her daughter’s strings, except she doesn’t realize it isn’t a puppet show.
4 Ensemble members with speaking/singing/dancing roles (1 S/A/T/B each).
