The Long Island City One Act Festival: Vol 2 is now accepting submissions for its new festival in January 2014.
The LIC One Act Festival: Vol 2 is a competition style one-act play festival held at The Secret Theatre. Prizes will be offered in the following categories: Best Play ($100), Best Director ($100), Best Actor ($50), and Best Actress ($50). In addition to cash prizes, those plays in the final round will be offered a chance to be non-exclusively published in The Secret Theatre’s Second Anthology of Short Plays.
Plays advance to the final rounds through secret audience votes. Final voting will be done by a panel of judges. Winners will be announced and awarded on the last night of the festival during the closing night party hosted by The Secret Theatre.
Scripts are due by 25 November at 5,00p. Scripts may be sent to submissions@secrettheatre.com in PDF format ONLY. Please indicate if you have a director in mind for your work.
Plays for the festival will be chosen by 6 December.
One Acts:
-Will each be guaranteed 4 performances
-Can be on any theme and in any style
-Can use 6 actors or less
-Must be under 15 minutes
-Will receive free rehearsal space at the theatre’s discretion
-Cannot bring in a set (a standard setting including 4 chairs, one table and 2 rehearsal cubes will be provided)
-Cannot store props or costumes at the theatre
There will be an open call for auditions on 14 December from 10a-2p.

Directors:
There is an open call for directors who will be paired with plays at the discretion of the producers. However if the playwright has a director they would like to recommend for their piece, it will be taken into consideration. Directors are responsible for casting. In addition to the open call, the Secret Theatre will provide limited free space for director’s individual auditions.
