About the Director!
Jen Sizer ended her 10 year hiatus from theatre playing Templeton the Rat in LMP's most recent production Charlotte's Web and will be in The 39 Steps opening September 16th and Pride and Prejudice opening October 21st! A graduate of Radford University, she holds a BA in Theatre with a concentration in Directing. Past experience includes Lady Macbeth, Rudy in Stories to be Told, Imogene in Best Christmas Pageant Ever, a bunch of bit parts in a bunch of shows and years of Gender Performance with the DC Kings Troupe.
About this play and LMP and Maureen!
Burtonsville Players (Laurel Mill Playhouse) performed these one acts for the Maryland One Act Festival and came in first! It then went on further and captured third place in Estafest! I was fortunate to be in the production along with Pat Bangs, Victor Carr, Fran Calhoun, Elisa Rodero, Brett Rohrer and Larry Simmons and never was there a better time had with this material. We could hardly rehearse without gales of laughter. So come out and audition! You will find it the best time ever!
About this play from Dramatists Play Service!
THE STORIES: Ranging over a wide variety of topics and situations there is no story line as such but, instead, a clever mosaic of telling observations and brightly funny events, all dealing with matters of particular moment to today's young people. In one sketch a visiting Soviet comedian, through a long-suffering interpreter, amuses himself but not his audience with stale jokes and turgid punch lines long out of date in America; in another two men and a woman, who find themselves in bed together, decide to get acquainted; while in still another a couple meeting at a party engage in a long conversation which runs backward—ending with their introduction. In these, as in the other sketches, the keynote is freshness and wit, blending into a lighthearted, highly theatrical and fast-paced program which will bring pleasure to both sides of the footlights.
Ten delightfully zany and irreverent short sketches created by one of our theatre's most accomplished writers. Originally presented by the Yale Cabaret Theatre, and then produced by The American Place Theatre in New York City, the sketches range widely in subject and style, but combine into a continually hilarious and brilliantly imaginative program.
