Surfside Players announces AUDITIONS

for the winner of our Playwriting Contest:

SENIORELLA

A Farce by Judy Bate

Surfside Players is proud to announce the winner of our Thirteenth Annual Playwriting Contest: Seniorella, a farce by Judy Bate, directed by Joan Dunn. Barbara has been coerced by her son and daughter into moving from Chicago to a Miami condo. Lamenting her old age and situation, she sobs, her tears inadvertently summoning a gender-challenged Fairy Godmother who has been assigned to do the Cinderella thing. You know, fix her up and send her to the ball. But a spell meant to make her look younger backfires...

Auditions are just ONE WEEK AWAY, Sunday and Monday April 21-22 at 7:00pm at the Surfside Playhouse in Cocoa Beach. No experience or resume required. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. We need 3 women (one in her 60s-70s, one in her 30s-50s, one in her teens-20s) and 2 men (one in his 30s-50s and one of almost any age).

Surfside Playhouse is located in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

In Brevard County, take eastbound 520 or 528 to southbound A1A;

or take eastbound Pineda, Eau Gallie, or 192, to northbound A1A.

Drive into Cocoa Beach, and turn west on South Fifth Street.

The lobby is on the left side of the building.

Performances will be for one weekend, June 7 - 9, 2013 at the Playhouse.

A reminder that next weekend is the opening of 'Night, Mother, by Marsha Norman, directed by Joan Dunn. Jessie (Victoria Lee Smith), an unemployed, destitute, divorced woman, calmly announces that she intends to kill herself. At first her mother (Nadine Antaillia) refuses to take her seriously, but as Jessie sets about tidying the house and making lists of things to be looked after, her sense of desperate helplessness begins to build...

Performs for two weekends, April 19 - 28, Fridays and Saturdays 8:00pm and Sundays 2:00pm. All tickets are $10.00, and Opening Night is Buy One Get One Free. (Caution: Contains adult themes.) Presented by special arrangement with Dramatists Play Service. (
