Hangar Theatre to Cast 2014 Mainstage Season and Lab Company
AUDITIONS TO BE HELD JANUARY 25 AND 26 IN ITHACA
Ithaca, NY (01/06/14) - The Hangar Theatre is holding auditions in Ithaca for its 40th anniversary Mainstage Season and its 2014 Lab Company. Auditions will be held by appointment at the Hangar Theatre on Saturday, January 25 and Sunday, January 26 starting at 10 a.m. Interested candidates should visit
www.hangartheatre.org/auditions-casting.html to request an audition appointment. The Hangar Theatre is located at 801 Taughannock Blvd., two miles north of downtown Ithaca on Route 89 at the Treman Marina entrance to Cass Park.
The Hangar's 2014 Mainstage Season, which runs from June through August, will include Red, Around the World in 80 Days, Little Shop of Horrors, and Other Desert Cities. The season offers roles for men and women of all ages, races, and ethnic backgrounds. The Hangar is a professional regional theatre that casts both Equity and non-Equity actors and is committed to casting the most diverse company of actors possible. Interested candidates will need to prepare a one-minute monologue in the style of the show for which they are auditioning. To audition for the musical, please also prepare a 32-bar song in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided.
The 2014 Hangar Lab Company program will provide one-of-a-kind professional theatre training to at least 20 emerging artists in acting, directing, choreography, design, and playwriting in order to better prepare them for successful careers in theatre. The Hangar has been home to the Lab Company since 1989. This nationally recognized training program is a premier training ground where the focus is on professional experience. Designed for advanced university students and early-career professionals, the program provides intensive training and performance in a repertory environment. Each Lab Company participant leaves the Hangar at the end of the summer having accrued multiple professional experiences and production credits upon which to build their careers. The Lab Company is a tuition-based program, and partial scholarships are available. Interested Lab Company candidates should prepare a one-minute monologue and a one-minute song.
