Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra (BSO)

with Music Director & Conductor Wesley Schulz

Announce Auditions for the 2013-2014 Season

September 8, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at Bainbridge Performing Arts (BPA)

The Bainbridge Symphony Orchestra is holding auditions for the 2013-2014 Season. Players of all instruments are encouraged to audition, especially oboe, bassoon, trumpet, trombone, French horn, violin, viola and basses.

Auditions will be held September 8, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at BPA, 200 Madison Avenue North, Bainbridge Island. Musicians are requested to arrive 15 minutes ahead of their appointment and look for signs to the warm-up and audition rooms. Those auditioning should prepare two contrasting works of their choice that display the depth of their musical sensitivity and range of technical ability. They should prepare solo material, etudes or excerpts and come prepared to play a total of five-eight minutes of music. Percussionists should prepare excerpts or solos of their choice. Timpani, snare and bass drum instruments will be available at the audition site. Auditioning on other instruments is allowed but players will need to provide their own instruments for the audition (ex. Triangle, tambourine). Sight-reading for all instruments may be requested; music will be provided on site.

Interested parties are urged to contact Clara Hanson, BSO General Manager, to arrange an audition time at
206.201.3603 (H),
206.465.0455 (C), or

Music has always been at the heart of the BPA mission, and the organization’s commitment stands undiminished to this day. It has the backing of a well-organized Board and a thriving institution. It takes a lively community of volunteer musicians and listeners to make such a commitment sustainable, and BPA thanks the BSO musicians and audience members for their part in keeping the classical music program lively and growing. Please join us for the BSO’s 2013 - 2014 Season and celebrate the orchestra’s vitality and contribution to the arts on Bainbridge Island.
