Seeking four latinx actors for upcoming world-premiere workshop production AND THE TREES FALL DOWN by award-winning author Viviana Prado-Nuñez. Production dates are Aug 24-25 as part of a residency with the Furnace Festival at the Center at West Park. Co-directed by Ashley Malafronte and Rylee Carrillo-Waggoner. Small stipend available.
Applicants should have fairly open availability during our residency week, August 20-25, with flexibility for rehearsals beginning July 29.
In AND THE TREES FALL DOWN, Prado-Nuñez delves into the lives of those people left in the wake of Hurricane Maria in Puerto Rico, a hurricane which left her out of contact with her family on the island for three days. This play seeks to fill, at least partly, the silence that came after the storm.
CHARACTERS:
(All roles to be played by latinx actors)
Isa- F- 19- Home from college for the first time since Hurricane Maria.
Armando- M- 16- Isa's brother, the man of the house now.
Roberto- M- 28- The tree guy, seems to do everything except cut down the tree.
Abuela- F- 70s- Isa and Armando's abuela. A quiet but solid presence.
Interested actors should self-submit a video audition by July 13 to andthetreesfalldown@gmail.com . Please also include a headshot, resume, availability for July 29-Aug 26, and an indication of your level of Spanish availability. (Note we're very flexible about the level of Spanish and conflicts-- we just want to get as much info as possible.)
