SEARCH BEGINS FOR WYVERN PANTOMIME DANCERS
The Wyvern Theatre will be hosting open auditions for young people to be part of the Juvenile Dance Chorus in their 2012-2013 pantomime, Aladdin, on Sunday 20 May.
“We are looking for outstandingly talented dancers, both boys and girls, to be part of this year’s spectacular pantomime,” said producer Daryl Back.
Girls and boys, aged between 13-19 years on 1 December 2012, must have extremely strong dance ability and exceptional stage presence. Singing and drama experience is desirable but not essential.
For those cast, rehearsals will take place throughout October and November and will be held at weekends only (Friday evenings and Saturday/Sunday daytimes). The Juvenile Dance Chorus will then join the professional cast from Monday 26 November, but rehearsals will still be held after school and at weekends until the production opens on 7 December 2012. Once the production has opened, each team of dancers (two teams in all) will perform twice on alternate days from 7 December until 6 January 2013, when the production closes (25 performances for the red team and 26 performances for the green team).
Aladdin shall see the return of Keith Chegwin, after his highly-praised performances in last year’s Cinderella, and will boast a brand-new script, singing, dancing, the genie of the lamp, stunning sets, beautiful costumes and an abundance of comedy.
The Wyvern works with Qdos Pantomimes and One From The Heart to produce a family pantomime throughout the Christmas period. Focused on family entertainment and traditional values, Qdos holds the accolade of being the largest producers of Pantomimes in the world, the 2011 season will see a host of stars appear in the company's 23 productions.
