As a young man, Konrad ran away, leaving his best friend Henrik and Henrik's wife Krisztina with no explanation. "Coward," she calls him. Forty-one years, two world wars and Krisztina's death later, Konrad has returned and Henrik wants answers. Two questions have been gnawing at him all this time - but they're not the questions Konrad expects. Embers is a fascinating study of passion (love and hate), truth, friendship, the urge to be the stronger and the need to survive.
